The open starts in February, if you were really serious a $20-$40/month program from now until then should not be factor. My gym now follows Mayhem, where things are much more well thought out, but may require a decent amount of equipment unless you're willing to rewrite stuff. To clarify, on most days I warm up with the GBP, do some specific work (barbell, body weight, or skill work), then do a WOD. I prefer Mayhem since they normally go by the RPE scale rather than percentages for strength work like HWPO. (I’m sure each program writer would say their program is the best). HWPO has limited community because everyone is on their own cycle. I don't know either style of programming, but cardio doesn't burn as many calories as strength training does (it burns more in the moment but with strength training you burn more calories overall due to rebuilding muscle, etc). I tried Mayhem, PRVN and such and found that they just throw volume at you and the superhumans make it through and mortals just get overwhelmingly sore.
